Guyon's canal syndrome is very similar to cubital tunnel syndrome.  Guyons canal syndrome is compression or pinching of the ulnar nerve but at the wrist and not the elbow like cubital tunnel syndrome.  It can be seen in patients that cycle due to pressing their palm on the handle bars for long period of time.

Symptoms:

  • Tingling of the small finger and ring finger
  • Numbness
  • Weakness
  • Hand pain, wrist pain and forearm pain
  • Sleepless nights
  • Swelling of the hands and fingers

Dr. Pedro Loredo will try non-operative treatments which include rest, splinting, nsaids, steroid injections, therapy, and ice.  If this is not successful or the symptoms are too severe, then Dr. Pedro Loredo at Hand Associates of North Dallas will perform surgery to decompress the nerve.
